Pastoral Search

Who We Are

Founded in 1994, Faith is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) with a regular attendance of about 200 people. We seek to glorify God by living out the gospel of Jesus Christ in joyful obedience to His Word, before a needy world. We believe we are created for worship. We desire to worship God in reverence and joy, with a solid foundation in the richness of our tradition. We believe in service to one another and active engagement in our communities, proclaiming Christ’s love and redemption to all.

Anchorage is Alaska’s largest city with about 300,000 residents. Surrounded by mountains, water, and wildlife, Anchorage is a beautiful and easy place to call our home.

We are a warm and welcoming church.  In addition to our service of worship, we enjoy a robust church life of Sunday School, community groups, Bible studies, women’s ministry, men’s ministry, and monthly fellowship meals.  Our desire is for this redeemed community to reach out to the greater Anchorage area and beyond.

Who We Seek

The congregation of Faith Presbyterian Church seeks a solo pastor who recognizes the primacy of preaching and teaching Biblical truth. We seek a shepherd who will guide the spiritual development of a growing congregation, and we desire a leader to work with our elders, deacons, and other church leaders as we serve Christ, each other, and our community.

Personal Requirements:

  2. Is committed to the Westminster Confession of Faith
  3. Possesses a Master of Divinity and at least five years of Christ-centered pastoral experience
  4. Is comfortable working without close proximity to the presbytery; is invigorated by interactions with the Session and pastors of other denominations, espousing an ecumenical approach to ministry
  5. Is filled with hope; has a passion for people; is approachable, empathetic, loves his congregation; and can relate to people of all ages, interests, and backgrounds

Pastoral Requirements:

  1. Preaching – Delivers compelling, expository sermons based on biblical text and doctrine, rooted in God’s Word that call the congregation to spiritual growth and personal faith
  2. Teaching – Is a strong teacher who is skilled in developing discipleship in others and able to connect the Bible’s riches to life’s realities
  3. Shepherding – Embodies servant leadership; is a man who feeds and disciplines his flock and seeks to help them develop their spiritual gifts and grow in sanctification
  4. Leadership & Vision – Contributes to a vision for the direction of our growing church, understands the role of the elders and deacons in the life of the church, and has a history of and a passion for developing lay leadership

We know our pastoral search is in the Lord’s faithful hands. We continue to pray for our congregation, our future pastor, his family, and the congregation he may leave behind. We thank you for your prayerful consideration of whether our home should become your new home!
