A Bible reading plan for children

Exploring the Bible Are there any Faith moms and dads who use Exploring the Bible: A Bible Reading Plan for Kids, with their children? Last summer I met the author, David Murray, and was impressed by his gentle demeanor, wit, and intellect.

My hunch is that this reading plan would be pretty intense for most moms that I know; it is a pretty tightly scripted day-by-day reading plan (sample pages). That said, there is great effort to produce video lessons on each of the book chapters and, having watched a few, they are really fantastic. The primary audience is ages 6 through 12.

The challenge is finding a Bible-reading tool structured in such a way that redemptive themes are highlighted and connected throughout. (Here is a list of resources we distribute to moms and dads during our Children's Membership Class.) While not a Bible reading plan, the Sally Lloyd-Jones Jesus Storybook Bible does a good job of this, but it isn't the Bible. It's important that children read and hear the words of Scripture. Exploring the Bible is actually a very helpful redemptive tour through the Bible ... just watch a video or two and you will be drawn in (try Expedition 8: Blood and Dust).

Again, if there are any Faith parents that use this resource, I'd like to hear from you.

Books of Prayers

Some, on priciple, do not like to read prayers written by others. One hopes that this principle is set aside for the many prayers in Scripture, like Hannah's prayer of praise (1 Sam. 2.1-10) or ...

Commonplace themes in Ecclesiastes

It has been a tremendous experience for me to preach through Ecclesiastes. I had never preached through this book and have been amazed at how intimate a book that it is. For the past three months I ...
